The Daltonian
The Daltonian is the Dalton School’s high school student-run newspaper. The Daltonian has been publishing the news about and opinions of Dalton students since 1933.
2026-2027
Senior Year: Director of Communications
The Director of Communications seeks to improve communication between the EICs and masthead members and also to increase readership. They regularly e-mail masthead members to remind them about deadlines for writing and editing articles (3 day reminder, 1-day reminder, etc.) to keep everyone on track, and to keep them apprised of when an issue is being delayed so there will be no surprise. If an issue is delayed or there is some other form of unusual circumstances, it is also be the responsibility of this person to communicate that to the masthead. They also make sure a link to the electronic version of each new issue is included in the weekly announcements all students and faculty receive, and the Dalton Sunday Blast which all parents receive.
2025-2026
Junior Year: Advising Editor-At-Large
The two Advising Editors-At-Large, in addition to fulfilling the standard responsibilities of Section Editors, are responsible for managing "backburner"articles: longer-term, ambitious pieces not tied to the immediate production cycle. This role requires working closely with writers from the initial pitch to the final draft, with a focus on improving structure, content, and the article’s core argument. This position requires a greater time commitment than that of advising editors: Advising Editors-at-Large are responsible for completing at least 4 sections of layout over the year and coordinate with Advising Editors to divide articles. You must be a rising junior or senior to apply.

Sophomore Year: Arts Section Editor
Sections Editors are responsible for writing at least one article per issue, submitting at least one article idea per issue for their sections for others to write, editing the articles in their sections, and executing layout. You must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior to apply.
2023-2024
Freshman Year: Staff Writer
Staff Writers are responsible for writing at least one article per issue, editing and revising their pieces according to editors' suggestions, and providing graphics for articles.
